How to Use a Skin Tag Removal Pen: Step-by-Step (With Mistakes to Avoid)
Share
The pen does the hard part, but a two-minute read beats a re-do. Here's the complete walkthrough — written for our Auto Tagless pen, applicable to any band applicator.
Before you start
- Identify: soft, on a stalk, wobbles — a true tag (60-second check). Skip anything pigmented, rooted or uncertain, and anything near the eyes.
- Pick the band size: measure the base (stalk), not the body of the tag. Snug at the stalk is the goal — 2–4 mm, 4–8 mm or 8–12 mm in our kit.
- Clean and dry: swab the area (swabs included), let it fully dry. No lotion, oil or deodorant — slippery skin is the #1 cause of slipped bands.
The application
- Load the band onto the pen tip as shown in the kit manual.
- Position the tip so the tag passes through the band opening — the tip should rest lightly against the skin around the base.
- Press. The mechanism seats the band at the base in one click.
- Check: band at the very bottom of the stalk, against the skin line. If it landed halfway up, slide gently down with a clean fingertip — or remove and redo with a fresh band.
Then: nothing
Shower, train, live normally (what's fine during the wait). Darkening by day 2–4 means it's working (here's why); detachment comes at day 7–14 (full timeline). Then aftercare.
The five classic mistakes
- Banding on moisturised skin → slips
- Band too large → nothing happens
- Band halfway up the tag → stub remains (fix: band the stub)
- Pulling the tag off early → bleeding and marks
- Banding something that isn't a tag → see step 1, always step 1
