TagBuddy & the Sea of Lookalike Band Pens: How to Pick One

Spend a week on Instagram or TikTok and you'll meet the same product under many names — TagBuddy, Dermly, and a parade of unnamed "skin tag remover pen" listings with near-identical videos. They're all selling band ligation, which is the right method — but the kits behind the ads vary a lot. We're one of the brands in this sea (disclosed), so instead of "pick us," here's the checklist that would expose us too if we cut corners.

The 6-point band-kit checklist

  1. Band sizes, stated in millimetres. The single biggest spec. Tags run 2–12 mm at the base; a kit listing one vague size — or no sizes at all — can't promise fit. (Our kit: 2–4, 4–8, 8–12 mm. Dermly lists two sizes to 8 mm. Many clones list nothing.)
  2. Band count and spares. Slips happen (why); a 6-band kit is one mistake from empty.
  3. Band material disclosed. Usually latex — which matters enormously if you're allergic. A listing silent on materials hasn't thought about you.
  4. Applicator type shown clearly. One-click auto pen vs manual cone (the difference) — and beware videos that show a band pen but ship a burning plasma pen; check which device is actually in the listing photos.
  5. Real company footprint. A contact page that answers, posted refund terms, a reachable support email. The viral-ad playbook — permanent countdown timers, "50% off ends tonight," unverifiable review walls — tells you the page was built to sell fast, not support you later.
  6. Honest claims. "Painless, 7–14 days, works on stalked tags, not for moles/warts/eyelids" is what truthful ligation marketing sounds like. "Removes anything in 8 hours" is what serum-scam marketing sounds like.

On TagBuddy specifically

TagBuddy sells the same ligation concept through the same viral channels; public information on its exact specs is thin, which is itself checklist point 1 and 5 — apply the list above to its current listing before buying, as you should to ours.

Our answers, for the record: Tagless — $19.99, three stated sizes, spares included, latex disclosed, auto pen pictured and shipped, 30-day guarantee, and a support inbox a human answers.

Not medical advice. Identify before you band — with any brand.
